Featured on OnceWed this winter. Flowers by the amazing Nature Composed. Hair & Make Up by the best Anna Breeding. Dress Samuelle Couture. Hope you love!

2013 Recap (Too Late?) // Jan 28 2014

I realize this post is coming way later than it should- but I can’t help myself. As a mama of a new one year old I am getting used to the fact that things are happening later than they should, and I celebrate things getting done at all! So cheers to 2014. 2013 was an amazing year for us– it was a year of holding tight to the promises of God in scary moments with jobs, Ava’s health, and housing– and celebrating the provision of God abundantly blessing and bringing us through some storms. Hoping for an exciting 2014!

Happy New Year! Our sweet mooshberry turned 1 on December 26th (poor girl- doomed to a lifetime of Christmas-themed birthday parties!). I decided to throw her a mini-brunch-bash to mark the occasion. I handed the camera off to my photographer friend, Tali, knowing she would masterfully capture all the small details. Enjoy!

That cute crown was inspired by one I had seen on Etsy a few weeks back. Super simple sewing DIY project that ended up being my favorite detail of the whole party!

I had extra special help from a few friends and my sister to put the party all together. We made a little vanilla sheet cake with homemade cream cheese frosting topped with berries for her own personal cake. We were hoping she would dive in, but apparently she is more of a doughnut girl.

We covered our buffet with fresh apple cider doughnuts, fresh orange juice, and egg nog (’tis the season) in little personalized milk cartons. For a pop of color, I did a few last minute flower arrangements with some flowers I found at Trader Joe’s.Finally, we covered our dining table in craft paper and created a yogurt parfait bar, mimosa bar, bagels & cream cheese area, and various other brunch-y snacks for people to enjoy as they hung out and celebrated with us. The awesome thing about covering your table with craft paper is that you can write directly on it!
Hope this simple brunch party get’s your inspiration juices flowing for your next get together!

This month a few of my friends and I threw together a party to honor two of my closest friends who just adopted their baby boy from Uganda. It was featured on 100LayerCakelet, a sister-blog to the famous wedding site, 100LayerCake. We were absolutely honored to be featured. A big thanks to all the people who so generously gave their time and talents to bless these dear friends. To see the feature, click here!
